Description

Lowell Nesbitt emerged as one of the most important American artists dealing with realism. Born in Baltimore, he started to paint seriously in Washington during the late 1950’s. First exhibited at the Obelisk Gallery, Washington, D.C. in 1957, his paintings, prints and drawings are in many public and private collections throughout the world and he has had one-man shows at the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and at the Kunstverein in Freidburg, Sweden.

Nesbitt dealt with numerous themes throughout his career, with perhaps the most beautiful and poetic being his flower series. Over 400 works have been created using the flower theme. He attained an enviable international reputation as an artist with a very personal style, brilliant technical skill, and a viewpoint which is wholly contemporary

A Nesbitt flower painting was recently featured on the PBS show “Find” hosted by the Keno brothers of Antiques Roadshow fame.
