Description

Levi’s prints juxtapose objects of art with objects from life, unifying history with comtemporary existence. The serigraphs utilize four color ‘photographic’ separation process combined with hand-cut screens and overpainting for color emphasis and a hand-drawn line to carve out the essence subject. The end product reveals much about the process of printmaking and the intention of the artist.

Josef Levi studied at the University of Connecticut and at Columbia University. He had his first New York art opening in 1965. His work is in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art, the Albright Knox Gallery, Aldrich Museum and the Corcoran Gallery, also many corporate collections such as Bank of New York and Exxon.
