Jennifer Dickson

“My work is concerned with levels of reality: external realities as perceived through the senses, and internal reality, which is largely irrational and intuitive. In my work I want to arrive at fusion of the two realities. Symbols are the means I use to do this. These have specific personal meanings, apart from their obvious universal ones. Communication outside oneself is vital: these symbols are my language. I accept the definition of art as being an act of transformation. I want to kick time and mortality in the teeth.”

Since 1962 Dickson has had more than 60 one-person exhibitions in six countries and 400 group exhibitions.
